General Information

This year’s Wrentham Summer Institute will run from 8:30-11:30 daily at the Roderick School. On days of inclement weather, outdoor classes will be moved indoors.
Pick up is promptly at 11:30 each day. Your child’s instructor will accompany all
students to the front of Roderick School for pick up.

When registering your child, please select the grade level your child will be entering in September 2021. You do not need to be a Wrentham resident to register!
 
All registrations this year will be completed via Google Form. Please fill out one Google Form (contains both registration and medical information) per child, per session.
 
Full payment should be sent in promptly after your registration(s).
 
Class Confirmations
Your child’s class confirmation will be sent via email in mid-June.
Refund requests will be honored prior to June 4th.
Refunds may take approximately 4-6 weeks.
*PLEASE NOTE: A class could be canceled due to low enrollment.

COVID-19 Guidelines
Wrentham Summer Institute will follow all of the most up-to-date COVID-19 Guidelines. There will be a nurse on site during all sessions.

**FULL!**🎒 Jumpstart to Kindergarten
Instructor: Mrs. Buckley   Entering Grade: Kindergarten
Calling all children entering kindergarten! Come and meet some of your future classmates! Learn your way around the classroom and school. Parents, your child will have exposure to both math and reading Kindergarten curriculum. Give your child a JUMP START and help them KICK OFF a fabulous year in kindergarten. From morning meeting to calendar, we will follow a typical kindergarten schedule and routine. Children will have an opportunity to tour the school and finally, we will introduce your child to the awesome Delaney Playground! I cannot wait to meet our future kindergarten students!
 
**FULL!**Indoor and Outdoor Games
Instructors: Mrs. Crawford & Mrs. Horne   Entering Grades: Kindergarten, Grades 1, 2, and 3
Come one, come all and join Mrs. Crawford and Mrs. Horne for a week of fun filled games. We will go back in time to the games we played as children. This week we will enjoy water balloons and squirt bottles, dodgeball, duck duck goose, relay races around the bus circle, and many more! In case of rain, we will enjoy some old fashioned games such as Go Fish, Candy Land, Memory, etc. Let's take a break from all this screen time to enjoy each other outside!

Instructor: Mrs. Koh   Entering Grades: Grades 1, 2, and 3
Bring your beach towel and let's have some fun with drawing our favorite summertime animals, foods, flowers and nature. We will be singing and dancing to the freeze dance music played by our freeze drum band! Getting outdoors in the lovely weather for some good old fashioned kickball and red light green light as well as new summer camp game favorites like "What's your trade? Lemonade! and many more! We will have some chill out time with our favorite board games and also have a daily singalong where all talents are welcome to be shared!
 
**FULL!**🏗 Learning Fun with LEGO!
Instructor: Mrs. Anderson   Entering Grades: Grades 1, 2, 3, and 4
Do you love playing with LEGO bricks? Bring your friends and your imagination to our fun and adventure-filled summer session! Each day of the week we will have a different LEGO theme. All aspects of science, technology, engineering and art will be incorporated in the 5 day session.
 
**FULL!** American Girl Doll Camp
Instructor: Mrs. Lewis   Entering Grades: Grades 2, 3, and 4
Do you love to play American Girl Dolls? If you said yes, then this camp is for you. Come bring your doll and enjoy a fun filled week of crafts for you and your doll. We will have a hair contest for your dolls and make matching bracelets for you and your doll. Want to take your doll on a camping trip....we will make tents, campfires and s’more for your doll. We will cool off with popsicles and shaved ice and on the last
day have an ice cream sundae party!! Hope you can come join the fun.
 
🎴 Pokémon Week
Instructor: Mrs. McGuire   Entering Grades: Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6
Join us for a fun-filled week of everything Pokémon. Do you have a favorite Pokémon? Do you want to be a Pokémon trainer? Come and connect with fellow Pokémon fans. Get creative designing your own character. We will do a fun craft and game each day. Throughout the week we will spend time indoors and out. Wear your sunscreen, bring a snack, and get ready to....Catch 'Em All!
 
💞 Kindness Camp
Instructor: Mrs. Hickey   Entering Grades: Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6
Are you ready to spread kindness wherever you go? This week we will talk about ways to show kindness at school, home and within the community. We will paint and leave kindness rocks around the school grounds for others to find, create quilts, make family kindness jars and braid friendship bracelets. We will also participate in a variety of activities to help inspire you to be kind in your thoughts, words and actions. #ChooseKind
 
📚 Wondrous, Rambunctious Roald Dahl Week
Instructor: Mrs. Marbenas   Entering Grades: Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6
Join us for a week of exploring the books of this amazing author! We’ll read, craft, and watch everything Roald Dahl!! If you enjoy his fantastical, funny stories then this is the class for you!
 
Crazy 8’s Math Camp
Instructor: Mrs. Poirier   Entering Grade: Grade 4
Join us for a week of Crazy 8’s Math where you will build stuff, run and jump, make music, make a mess......It’s the coolest math camp around! During our week, we will make mischief and memories with activities like Glow in the Dark Geometry, Bouncy Dice Explosion and to cap the week off.....Toilet Paper Olympics! You will not go home empty handed! You will get to take home a bunch of cool gadgets, not to mention some pretty cool math skills!
 
🏁 Summer Heat Sports!
Instructor: Mr. Kelley   Entering Grades: Grades 4 and 5
Basketball and other sports? Relay races and other outdoor games? Fitness rotation stations? Time to bring up the summer heat and have some fun in the sun, and get active. Learn some new skills, practice some skills you already know, and show off your skills in team building games and scrimmages with your friends!
 
📂Executive FUNctioning Week
Instructor: Ms. Hillegass   Entering Grades: Grades 4 and 5
We’re putting the FUN in executive FUNctioning! Get ready for a week of games, crafts, and activities, all while learning about and practicing executive functioning skills. Executive functioning skills include focusing, keeping stuff organized, self-control, and planning, all of which are necessary for learning, playing sports, participating in hobbies, and getting along with others.

Instructor: Mr. Drakehart   Entering Grades: Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7
Let yourself become the hero in the world’s most popular role playing game. Students will spend the week playing through a high fantasy adventure story designed to develop critical thinking, teamwork, math, and problem solving skills. This program will be designed to teach new players how the game works, as well as appeal to students who have played before. Parents are also welcome to sit in if they would like to learn how to play D&D at home with their student. Everything students need to play will be provided by the program.
 
🎭 Future Stars of Broadway!
Instructor: Mrs. McLellan   Entering Grades: Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7
Welcome all future stars of Broadway! Do you love to be on stage? Do you dream of acting or dancing on Broadway one day? For anyone who loves to act, perform, or be creative, this is the perfect place for you! This week, you will work together to create and perform your very own play. You will have the opportunity to be creative, work as a team, and perform your play at the end of the week. You will also get the chance to create and practice choreography as a group. At the end of the week, we will take pride in our work by performing our creations for family and friends. Get ready for a fun-filled week of acting, dancing, and teamwork!
 
🔬Insane Science
Instructor: Ms. DeTrolio   Entering Grades: Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7
Just as Einstein said “Play is the highest form of research”, so in this class we will be doing fun and crazy science experiments and having fun at the same time! We will be learning about science by creating Lava Lamps, solar ovens, rock crystals and much more. On the last day we will do a fascinating experiment that will blow your mind!! So grab a friend and join this class for some INSANE SCIENCE!

🎼Music Adventures
Instructor: Mrs. Koh   Entering Grades: Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2
Hello and Welcome to Musical Adventures! Hope you all love playing musical instruments and marching to the beat! We will explore playing the beat and moving to our favorite traditional and multicultural music. We'll create our own songbook of chants and rhymes to keep with us and bring home each day. You might see us making our own paper towel tube shakers or kleenex box guitars. We love playing
fun camp games too where we will use the parachute to go under or over and also play all of our favorite games, like Marco Polo on Land, Red Light Green light, Mother May I, Pictionary, Charades and more!!! There will also be some guitar and ukulele demos and a fun performance at the end of each themed week designed and created by us!

**FULL!**🦋Bugs, Butterflies & Books
Instructor: Mrs. Hickey   Entering Grades: Kindergarten, Grades 1, 2, and 3
Are you ready for a week of creepy-crawly fun? This week we’ll be learning all about six-legged creatures and go searching for insects with jars and nets in hand. We will read bug books, make butterfly & ladybug crafts, create bug fossils and do lots of other indoor and outdoor activities~all involving bugs! Our week will conclude with a BUG-abration, complete with bug juice and insect inspired snacks!!

🦖 Everything Dinosaurs!
Instructor: Mrs. Geehan   Entering Grades: Kindergarten, Grades, 1, 2, and 3
Come have fun learning about dinosaurs and making crafts this week! We will make our own dinosaurs, paint, build, dig for dinosaurs, make fossils and play dinosaur games. Please bring a nut free snack and drink and apply sunblock before class. A ROARING GOOD TIME!

Join us for a week full of sports and fun! Get ready to play your favorite sports including soccer, basketball, kickball, wiffleball and more! We will have fun playing outside and doing some sports games and activities indoors as well. Wear sneakers and bring a water bottle. Come join the fun!

Harry Potter fans, enter the world of Hogwarts and Harry Potter! Immerse yourself in the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends. Join us as we read “The Cursed Child,” have Harry Pottery experiences, such as getting sorted into Hogwarts houses, learn spells and learn to play Quidditch. We will finish up with a trip to “Hogsmead” and some Butter Beer.

Are you a junior mathematician or a junior scientist? With Mr. Conlon, step inside the worlds of mathematics and the sciences with a detective hat on and solve some of the mysteries stumping some of the best of us. For example, ever wonder if any three sides will make a triangle? Or, do you wonder about the science and mathematics behind a snowflake? We will spend the week uncovering many mathematical and scientific puzzles, learning new things about the subjects, and just having a great
time!

Instructor: Mrs. Lewis   Entering Grades: Kindergarten, 1, and 2
Do you believe in fairies? If you said yes, then this class is for you!! In this class we will read fairy stories and create fairy dolls. We will go outdoors and create fairy homes and cool off with popsicles and water balloons. Kids will create their own fairy wings, crowns and wands. We will decorate fairy cookies and have a tea party. We will make fairy dust and create a fairy garden to take home and go on a scavenger hunt. Hope you can join us for a fun, fairy filled week of fun.

🏫Jump Start First Grade!
Instructors: Mrs. Geehan & Mrs. McKay   Entering Grade Level: Grade 1
Come join Kindergarten staff as we get ready for first grade! We will have fun creating a writing journal, making arts and crafts, playing games together, as well as learning about math, reading and science. Please bring a nut free snack and drink and apply sunblock before coming to class. Welcome to first grade!

🏖 Beachy Keen Fun
Instructor: Ms. DeTrolio   Entering Grades: Grade 1, 2, and 3
Is summer one of your favorite seasons? Do you love the beach? Come have fun learning all about the beach! We’ll play water games, like Drip, Drip, Drop and Fill My Bucket. Our projects will include shell paintings, collages, t-shirt decorating and photo frames. We’ll read summer stories and culminate our week with a make your own sundae party! Can you say I LOVE SUMMER? Please pack a snack, drink and towel daily. Feel free to wear a bathing suit under your clothes.
 
🎶 Music Jamboree
Instructor: Mrs. Koh   Entering Grades: Grades 2, 3, and 4
Would you like to learn some Guitar and Ukulele chords and strumming? Then this class will rock your socks off! Let's listen to some of the greats and strum along with them! I will teach you how to tune your instrument and change a string. Also you will learn some basic chords and strumming techniques each day and you will be provided with a music folder to keep all of your Music Jamboree Materials. There
will be time each day for some summer camp game favorites: Kick ball, wiffle ball, frisbee, and charades! We will have relax time with board games and a daily singalong each day where all talents are welcome to be shared.

🌊 Letterboxing and Water Play Fun
Instructor: Mrs. Lynch   Entering Grades: Grades 2, 3, 4, and 5
What could be more fun than finding a hidden treasure? Finding a hidden treasure and then running through a sprinkler and gliding down a slip 'n slide, that's what!! Have fun, stay cool! Letterboxing is an intriguing mix of hiking, puzzle-solving, treasure hunting, and rubber stamping. Throughout the week we will spend time indoors and out. Each child will choose a code name, decorate a letterboxing bag and create a few unique rubber stamps. You get to take home all your supplies at the end of the week! We will hike the school grounds and Sweatt Hill areas in search of hidden treasures and end each day by cooling off with lots of water play!! On the last day, we will have a yummy "cool" treat! So bring a towel, sunscreen, bug spray, a water bottle, and a snack and get ready for lots of fun!!

🐒 Safari Adventures
Instructor: Mrs. Conlon   Entering Grades: Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7
Do you love lions, hippos, giraffes and zebras? Well then.....Come join Mrs. Conlon as we explore the Serengeti! It will be the adventure of your summer! We will explore and learn about the animals that live there. We will dive into the jungle and play games, make crafts, concoct some sand slime and even make a "jungle in a jar".....I know you will have a "roaring" good time!
