EARLY ELEMENTARY WRITING CHECKLIST:
http://teachers.net/gazette/MAY03/images/WritingChecklist.pdf

Have your students correctly spaced their words? Have they used capitals and periods
where necessary? How is their spelling? And does the writing make sense? Students will
have their own writing checklist in order to self-edit their writing from the early elementary
grades, taking responsibility for acquiring good writing habits.

Try making copies of this template to help your students plan and execute their story writing assignments. You can also use the printable worksheet to do partner checks on student
writing, where peers edit student work and pass it back to the original author.
